How is BMI calculated?

BMI = weight in kg ÷ (height in metres × height in metres). For 70 kg and 1.75 m: 70 ÷ 3.0625 = 22.9, a healthy weight.

How are calories for bulking and cutting calculated?

Your basal metabolic rate comes from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (10 × weight + 6.25 × height − 5 × age, + 5 for men or − 161 for women), multiplied by your activity level. For cutting we subtract 20%, for bulking we add 10%. Protein is 2 g per kg when cutting, 1.6 to maintain and 1.8 to bulk; fat is 25% of calories and the rest is carbs.

BMI does not tell muscle from fat and does not suit children or pregnant women. Ask a doctor for a full assessment.
